Hi

I have confirmed the "Copy" works fine and color is fine.

Printing via the USB cable is also good, color is fine.

Only when I print via the wireless network does pages only print in Black, no color.

From the details given it sounds like my hardward is fine.

"

Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started? NO

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or refilled cartridges? YES

Have you tried to clean the ink cartridge contacts? YES

Have you tried to print the test page from the printer? YES

Are you able to make a copy from the printer? YES

"

When I installed the printer initially, I had lots of problems to get the wireless working.  All the diagnostic pages indicated OK, but could not do much.  Then after a few days, I could print fine wirelessly, but it would not SCAN wirelessly.  After another few days the scanning started to work.  Was very frustrating.  Now the color issue.

The black printing over a wireless connection has always been the case.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the printer drivers numerous of times, with no result.

The printer is only 2-months old.

Hi! @SunnySideUp9, Welcome back to HP forums.

I appriciate your detailed analysis and brilliant troubleshooting skills.

As you are able to print in colour using a USB connection but not from the wireless.

Here are some instructions that will help you solve this issue.

Perform a root level uninstallation and reinstallation of the printer drivers.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Update the printer basic drivers using this link. Click Here

However, you can also try installing windows built-in drivers and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know more information about installing Windows built-in drivers. Click Here

If the issue persists run all the windows update.

I'll watch your reply!

@SunnySideUp9, I'm glad to hear from you again.

As you mentioned the issue still persists after reinstallation of drivers.

Have you a tried installing windows built-in drivers on your PC?

Have you tried printing from a different application does the issue persist?

Update the windows on your PC.

You did a Marvelous job by trying the steps recommended previously.

However, there are few more troubleshooting steps left, please try those and let me know how it goes.

Try updating the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Update the printer firmware using this link. Click Here

Also, try the steps recommended below.

In search type devices and printer.

Open devices and printer

Right click on your printer and select printing preferences.

Select paper/quality tab.
Select color from the list.
Click Apply then OK

Open a word application select File | Options | Advanced: Print to make sure "Use draft quality" isn't checked.

If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below.

Search Windows for devices, and then click Devices and Printers in the list of results.
Click Add a printer.
A Choose a device or printer to add to this PC window opens.
If your printer is in the list, select it, click Next, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver. You can now use your printer.
If your printer is not on the list, continue to the next step.
Click The printer I want isn't listed, and then select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings.
Click Next.
Select the port to be used by your printer, such as 'USB001' for a USB connected printer, and then click Next.
Click Windows Update, and then wait for the print drivers to update.

If your printer is not in the list, click the back arrow in the upper left corner of the window two times to return to the Find a printer by other options step, and then continue to the next step.
Select Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname, and then click Next.
Select Autodetect from the Device type drop-down list.
Type your printer IP address into the text box, and then click Next.
You can find the IP address by printing either a Wireless Network Test report or a Network Configuration page. For printers with displays, the IP address displays on the printer control panel through the wireless icon or button.
Wait for the computer to connect to the printer, and then click Next to install the print driver.
