HP Officejet 5200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My OfficeJet 5200 is several years old now, out of warrant but still functioning up until yesterday when I tried to change empty cartridges for new HP-branded ones.

Now, even after factory-reset, I can't get past the "Use SETUP cartridges" error. Other users in this forum who have experienced this error have been contacted by private message with details that "can't be shared in a public forum", in order to let them bypass this error. I'd be grateful if someone could share those with me so that I can continue to use my printer.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi,

Can you see both of the ink cartridges indicated below the error message or may only one of the cartridges?

A circle sign indicates the Black cartridge and three dots indicate the Tri-Color.

The error is displayed whether I insert either cartridge by itself or both cartridges at the same time.

Can anyone send me the details like the user in this answer ? They solved the same problem for a different printer model
