HP Officejet 6700 Premium CN583A
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer failure; 0x61011bed; 2 x brand new HP Yellow cartridge put in but printer reports depleted

I have had an HP Officejet 6700 Premium Product number: CN583A for several years; it has been the best of all the HP printers that I have owned. It has often reported problems however, up to now, it has always recovered itself after e.g. a reset. Now after several attempts it has not; I have now followed every suggestion I can find (more than see below) but I believe that it should be possible to clean/repair so does anyone know if it can be repaired and if so if there is anyone in the SW England UK who can/does? (The search tool has only Samsung option???)

So if it cannot be repaired which current printer is as good? Thanks all.

1          Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector. Done and all after done direct from wall

2          Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer. Done several times

3          With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Done (several times)

4          Remove USB cable, if present. NA WI-FI used but tried with UTP  even thru setup it failed

5          Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge. Done (not sure this does anything on 6700)

6          Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer. Done (several times)

7          Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle. Done (several times)

8          Next thing which you could try here is to remove all the ink cartridges from the printer and check what error do you see on the printer screen. Asks to put cartridges in. Done inc ALL new second time. See 9 Depleted print cart must be replaced before printing so I used a second brand new cartridge – tried print report; it says printing and goes thru checks etc but back through cycle

9          Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works. Done (several times) including with NEW cartridges which showed problem with yellow.

10        Try to check with one cartridge at a time and see what happens. Done – cartridge problem as in 8

Hi KrazyToad,

Many thanks for your help/suggestion.

I powered the printer off last night and it turned on OK as usual this morning.

I had downloaded the Driver update Software and I ran it; it reported that it is up to date.

However I looked at the rest of process 2 and as Step 2 printed the status report from the printer screen: it worked fine and the report says that Yellow is full which is correct.

So I printed another document and that has also come out fine so I guess we are on our way again

So thank you very much indeed and all best,

Richard

Thanks Crazy Toad.

Firmware update fixed my printer too but it had to be connected via Ethernet to detect the printer.
