Hello,
I need some assistance.
My hp officejet 8015 says paper jam but there is no paper jam. I checked the printer. No jam.
I've turned it off and on. Still get the same message.
It was working fine, just happened a couple of days ago. Thanks!

Hi @Reacherlife,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 8015 is indicating a paper jam but you can't find any jammed paper, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:
1. Check for Obstructions
- Open All Accessible Doors: Carefully open the paper tray, output tray, and any other accessible panels to look for any small pieces of paper or debris that might be causing the issue.
- Inspect the Paper Path: Look inside the printer for any foreign objects or paper fragments that might not be immediately visible.
2. Check the Paper Rollers
- Clean Rollers: Dust or residue on the paper feed rollers can sometimes cause false paper jam errors. Gently clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry before trying to print again.
- Check for Damage: Inspect the rollers for any signs of damage or wear. If they look damaged, they may need to be replaced.
3. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear error messages and reset the internal components.
- Hard Reset: For some printers, a hard reset can be done by turning off the printer, unplugging it, and holding down the power button for about 15 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
4. Check the Paper Settings
- Paper Size and Type: Ensure that the paper settings in the printer’s menu match the paper loaded in the tray. Mismatched settings can sometimes cause the printer to misinterpret the paper handling.
5. Update Firmware and Drivers
- Firmware Update: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Installing the latest firmware can sometimes resolve bugs and issues.
- Update Drivers: Ensure that the printer drivers on your computer are up to date. Visit the HP website to download and install any available updates.
6. Perform a Printer Diagnostic
- HP Print and Scan Doctor: Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool, which is available for download from the HP website. This tool can diagnose and fix many common printer problems
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

It would be helpful if the expert response included links to the referenced parts of the printer to examine. I need a diagram identifying all the parts that could cause a paper jame error message. THank you.
