The display panel on my HP Officejet Pro appears to have just malfunctioned. From the HP community, apparently this is a huge issue with these printers.
The lettering on the display screen turns white, to the point that its unreadable. This is something that can't be fixed with a reboot, leaving the power cord disconnected overnight, or a firmware update. This is a genuine hardware failure.
The printer still works fine. I was able to scan a document by using my desktop software, so that function still works. Going back and forth on whether I should invest in attempting to replace the display. Possibly the most cost effective option would be to continue to use the printer, until it can't be used anymore.
Has anyone had any success in replacing the display? When replacing the display, did you also replace one or both ribbon cables? Paying $30 to $100 for parts that may not work, or that can't be installed seems risky, when you can buy a new printer for less than $150.

I reviewed the video a week ago, since it's the only information available online on changing the display. It's not a two-minute job. You don't rush through a job like this. Ever attempted anything like this before? Sometimes it is successful; at other times not. In addition, both ribbons should be replaced as the same time as the display. Those aren't free. You can purchase a new multi-function machine for under $100. All things to consider before attempting this task.
