HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter - N811a/N811d
Microsoft Windows 11

Installed a Samsung 990 PRO, installed Windows 11 PRO & other software to get computer up and running.

This printer is "wired" to a switch that is wired to a NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000P router.

Installed HP Smart, looked for the printers. HP Smart Verson 142.3.139.0

HP ENVY Pro 6455 is doing fine.

This is what I get for the HP Officejet Pro 8100.

AlpineKid63_0-1675967049960.png

Why am I seeing the orange triangle with an exclamation mark (!)??

The printer does go to sleep.

The printer does wake up when a print job is sent.

Since the Windows 11 PRO installation, not seeing the ink levels like before.

Thank you

I do not thing that the Samsung 990 PRO SSD is the cause of this issue. It is an SSD. Just like the old Hard Drives. It does not do anything except hold the data that is being written to it.

This could be a coding problem with HP Smart not talking to the HP Officejet Pro 8100 and using Windows 11 PRO.

Today is 1 March 2023, about 7:45pm Eastern Time, and I opened HP Smart.

The HP Officejet Pro 8100 was displayed with the ink status displayed.

Opened Notepad and printed something. The words did print. Even though the Printer status is not correct.

This is what was displayed,

HP Smart and Windows 11 PRO do not like to play nice with each other.

Now somebody should look into this and maybe fix it.

Thank you

Hi @AlpineKid63 ,

Welcome back. I understand that you are getting printer status unknown.

I'd like to help!

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which helps in resolving common printing and scanning problems such as missing or corrupt print drivers, connectivity issues, etc.

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan Doctor: Click here

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for an HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, and remove any printer-related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you Elohi_NR for the information.

Will try this as soon as I can.

But unless this software will talk to HP SMART better after installed, I do not think this is the problem.

The problem is with HP SMART not wanting to talk to the HP Officejet Pro 8100 and using Windows 11 PRO.

FYI, HP Officejet Pro 8100 is hardwired to a switch that is wired to router.
