hp officejet pro 8210

Dear HP Community,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am experiencing an issue with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 printer. After a normal and successful shutdown, the device now refuses to power on. Upon attempting to start it, an error code 0xd9013ba0 sx kernel_exec appears

The printer was functioning properly before this happened, and there were no signs of malfunction during the last use. Unfortunately, since then, it hasn’t responded correctly, and I am unable to use it at all.

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions from the community or support team on how to resolve this issue. If there are any reset methods, firmware recovery steps, or service options available, I would be thankful to learn more about them.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Hi @Robin452,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Error Code 0xd9013ba0 sx kernel_exec!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve the issue by clearing the error code.

Disconnect the Power:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the Power button, if it is not already off.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.

Reconnect the Power:

  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

Check the Power Source

Ensure that your printer is receiving power from a functioning outlet.

  1. Test the Outlet:
    • Plug a different electronic device into the same outlet to verify the outlet is working.
    • If the outlet is not functioning, try plugging the printer into a different outlet.

Inspect the Power Cord

Check if the power cord is damaged or not connected properly.

  1. Ensure Firm Connections:
    • Make sure the power cord is firmly connected to both the printer and the power outlet.
    • Ensure there are no signs of wear and tear on the power cord.
    • If you suspect the power cord is faulty, consider using a replacement power cord.

Update the Firmware

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, that didn’t help. It is not possible to update the firmware because the printer is stuck on the HP logo screen and is not being recognized by the PC.

Hi @Robin452,

Thank you for your patience, and I’m really sorry to hear the issue persists. Since your HP OfficeJet Pro 8210 is stuck on the HP logo with error 0xd9013ba0 sx kernel_exec, and your PC doesn’t detect it, this is a critical firmware-level failure. But don’t worry, I’ll walk you through advanced recovery steps and your options.

Try USB Firmware Recovery Mode (Service Mode)

This process may revive the device if the bootloader is still working:

What You’ll Need:

A Windows PC

A USB Type-B cable (printer to PC)

The latest firmware file for your HP 8210

Download Firmware File

Go to the Official HP Drivers Page

Select your OS and download the firmware update utility

Do not run it yet; we’ll do this after entering recovery mode.

Put Printer in Firmware Recovery Mode

Turn off the printer (disconnect power if frozen)

Hold these three buttons together on the printer:

Cancel (X)

Power

Wi-Fi or Wireless button (depending on your version)

While holding the buttons, plug the power back in

Keep holding until the printer screen either goes blank or shows a “Firmware Update” or “Recovery Mode” message

If it enters recovery, the PC should detect it as a USB printer device.

Run Firmware Tool

Connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC

Run the downloaded firmware utility

It should now detect your printer in recovery mode

Select the printer and proceed with the update

Wait until it completes, do not disconnect during this process.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, this didn’t work either. The printer doesn’t respond to any button combinations. It either freezes on the HP logo with a loading bar or shows the error code 0xd9013ba0. I'm very disappointed, as nothing I’ve tried so far has had any effect.
