HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi:

Need help with my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium AiO Printer - N911g

Installed new ink cartridges, and it is giving error messages about failed or damaged cartridges.

Replaced the specific problem cartridge but still giving the same error message and won't print.

Never had this problem before.  Don't know if it is ink or printhead.  Had this printer

for about 10 yrs.  Where can I get a good printhead to buy?  Checked Ebay and Amazon but

customers' comments backed me away from Ebay and Amazon is no different except the

prices are very high.  Thanks to all of you for your help.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting a cartridge error, I am glad to assist you.

Reset the printer

  • Resetting the printer might clear the error message.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Reseat the printhead up to three times

  • To clear the error message, you might need to reseat the printhead up to three times.
  • Open the door to access to the ink cartridges.
  • Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.
  • Unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • WARNING: You must disconnect the power cord before reaching inside the printer.
  • Lift the carriage latch, slightly lift the printhead, lower the printhead back into the carriage, wiggle the printhead left and right, and then lower the carriage latch to lock the printhead into place.
  • Animation showing how to reseat the printhead in the carriage
  • Close the ink cartridge access door.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then check the control panel for the error message.
  • Sometimes error messages persist after inserting the printhead. If the error message persists, repeat the steps to reseat the printhead up to three times.

Hi sandytechy20:

Thanks for your reply to my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium concern.

I did according to your instructions and the problem still show up.

The LED Control Panel says, "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged." "Remove them and replace with new cartridges."

I have 2 of the above-mentioned Printers and both are giving the same error message.

YouTube shows video clips explaining this problem and it says HP is blocking the printers from using third party ink

cartridges which I usually use.  HP's inks are very expensive, and they shouldn't be doing this.

Can you please help me to get rid of this particular problem.

I can't use my printers until a solution is found.

Thank you very much for your help.

Much appreciated.
