Copier works correctly; printer does not. My copier reproduces all colors accurately, but the printer prints the colors wrong. The Officejet's internal Print Quality Diagnostic Page has the same discoloration issues as printing a test page pattern. Cyan prints a royal blue, magenta seems accurate, and yellow prints gold. When I copy a document with different colors, the copier "prints" them flawlessly, matching each color properly. So, whatever sends signals to the printheads from the computer has the same incorrect results as printing a Print Quality Diagnostic Page from the Officejet's menu but does NOT lead to incorrect color matching when using the Officejet's copying function. I have tried every troubleshooting and diagnostic tool I've found. Other than the discoloration of the print function, the alignment and print quality are just fine. I have reset to factory settings, etc. Please help.
Thanks, Rusty

Hi @RustyNC,
Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand, the printer is not printing right colors but it copies fine.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
When was the last time it worked fine?
Did you make any hardware/software changes?
Let's try these troubleshooting steps:
Step 1: Reset the printer
To reset the printer, disconnect the printer from the power source, and then reconnect it.
-
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
-
Wait at least 60 seconds.
-
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
-
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
-
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Step 3: Allow automatic servicing to complete
Step 5: Check the print settings
Step 6: Update the printer firmware
Step 9: Print a Print Quality Diagnostics report
Step 11: Align the printhead
Step 13: Clean the printhead
Click here to follow above steps
Keep me posted!
Cheers 🙂
