I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. Recently it ran low on blue ink so I printed in Black only. I finally replaced the color cartridge but then got a message "damaged or depleted cartridge " after I inserted it. I figured I might have done something wrong when I inserted it si I bought a new set of all the ink but the problem persisted after I put in all the new cartridges. I had another HP printer of the same model from a previous job so I replaced the printer head and added in the new ink to give that a try. Alignment page came out blank as well as some printing attempts. Everything is working with the printer as far as power, movement, etc as before but there is no printing going on. The second printer that I switched the printhead from was originally with my computer from my former job, so at some point I replaced that printer with the one I had as my own. I don't remember why I changed it but did so at some time after I installed the work computer at home, Would anybody have any recommendations such as maybe try a new printhead, etc?

Hi @ChrisPaterek1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already taken several troubleshooting steps, but there are a few additional things you can try to resolve the issue.
Clean the Printhead:
- Use the printer's built-in cleaning function to clean the printhead. This option is often available in the printer's menu or through the printer software on your computer.
- Follow the printer's manual or on-screen instructions for cleaning the printhead.
Manually Clean the Printhead:
- If the built-in cleaning doesn't work, you can manually clean the printhead. Remove the printhead (following your printer's manual) and use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with distilled water to clean the printhead contacts. Be gentle to avoid damaging the printhead.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download any available firmware updates. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and reinstall them. Go to the HP website, download the latest drivers for your printer model, and follow the installation instructions.
Check for Ink Cartridge Issues:
- Make sure that all ink cartridges are properly installed and that there are no protective seals or tapes left on the cartridges that might be blocking the ink flow.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
