HP Officejet Pro 8715 (8710)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Officejet Pro 8715 (8710) won't accept new HP 952XL cartridge - says "older generation" - but that is what has been used since I bought the printer new and that is what is specified on the label on the printer. I put on a new genuine HP 952XL when the black ink ran out, but now I can't print or copy anything.

I have the same problem. Also, it identifies my 8715 as an 8710.  I pulled the second cartridge from the original carton and it reflected that it is an old cartridge no longer used... so, I bought two new cartridges (942 XL) and I get the same message.

What's up?

I try to download drivers for the 8715 and I can't find any.

@tomcat1978, @RDT2021 Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Effective January 2017, HP 950 and 951 ink cartridges have new markings on the packaging and cartridge label. The cartridges are marked with a Z10, Z20, Z30, or Z40.

Kindly check on the ink cartridge label if it belongs to Z10 or Z20. Refer to this document for more info.

@RDT2021, HP Officejet 8715 belongs to HP Officejet 8710 series printer. Hence, it shows as 8710
