Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I've read the forums with the responses from HP Assistants, tried all the methods provided, but still came up unsuccessful.

Please message me privately on steps to do a hard full reset for my HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer.

Thanks,

Mike

@Mpiecrheaelz, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better, what is the issue with the printer?

Do you get any errors?

Keep me posted.

No errors, I did the update and the next day my printer no longer printed. If I go into tools and try the print head clean or calibration, the printer just loads and does nothing. I’ve left it over night loading and still nothing. Ive tried many troubleshooting tips from the hp website and also the semi-full reset but it still didn’t work. Can I go back on a software update or reapply an update? Or can a do a full reset that clears everything?

I understand the printer does not respond. There is no option to downgrade the printer firmware.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.

If you have tried the semi-full reset and the issue persists, this could be a hardware issue. Reinsert the ink cartridges.

Try making a standalone copy from the flatbed glass and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, I’ve done all of that but still have the problem. Is there an full reset that I can do that’s different from the semi-full reset?

@Mpiecrheaelz

Yes, there is an option to perform the full reset. You have to select the full reset option instead of semi-full reset under the resets menu.

If this does not work, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

I only see partial reset and semi-full reset. I don’t see an option for a full reset. Please help.

Apologies, you are correct, the only reset options available for Officejet 8620 model is:

  • Country/ Language Reset

  • Partial Reset

  • Semi-Full Reset

In this case, there are no other options. Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
