HP PSC 2115 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi. I have a very old PSC 2115 all in one that I have just plugged in after not being in use for a while. I have put new ink cartridges into it as when I first tried it last night the black cartridge would not work, so I assumed it was empty.

I switched the printer on and it went through the align cartridges routine, but the black ink won't appear, so the alignment sheet is just from the yellow cartridge. When the scan happens to attempt to align the cartridge it naturally cannot align, as there's no black ink on the page. However, the printer then loops and starts to try to align the cartridges again. Same result - and so on.

I cannot take the printer out of align cartridge mode, even by pressing the setup button. I suspect I just need to clean the print heads, but I cannot get to that part of the menu because it's stuck in this align loop.

I have seen that this is a problem from years back, and I also see that there was a workaround in past conversations but - isn't this wonderful, HP - the page(s) no longer exist(s).

I can't use the HP Smart App because it won't recognise the printer as it's just in this loop, and I can't access anything else. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone help? I know this is an ancient printer
