Microsoft Windows 11

After printing 1 page of multiple pages, I receive a "printer que error." My OS is windows 11. I have uninstalled/installed the printer and drivers, used virtual assistant, and HP print & scan doctor. When I run the Print & Scan Doctor, I receive the message, "Wrong printer port configured." I have followed the steps to locate port settings, switched the printer to different USB ports, with the same issue. Any advice/assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi @TmKwiat,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the "printer queue error" and "wrong printer port configured" issues with your HP PSC 950xi on Windows 11, follow these detailed troubleshooting steps:

1. Check Printer Port Configuration

Open Control Panel:

  • Press Win + R, type control, and hit Enter to open Control Panel.

Navigate to Devices and Printers:

  • Go to Devices and Printers (or View devices and printers).

Select Your Printer:

  • Right-click on the HP PSC 950xi and select Printer properties.

Check Ports:

  • Go to the Ports tab.
  • Ensure that the correct port is selected for your printer. For USB connections, the port should be something like USB001 or USB002. If the port is not selected correctly, change it to the appropriate USB port.

Apply and Confirm:

  • Click Apply and then OK to save changes.

2. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

Download Latest Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and search for your printer model to download the latest drivers compatible with Windows 11.

Uninstall Existing Drivers:

  • In Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer and select Remove device.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall any existing HP printer software.

Install New Drivers:

  • Run the driver installation file you downloaded.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the new drivers.

3. Use Windows Printer Troubleshooter

Open Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Run Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Click on Printer and then Run the troubleshooter.
  • Follow the instructions to detect and resolve any issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks you Rachel, after working on the issue more, I received other errors; device  error and error in the queue. Apparently the drivers that I downloaded from HP support for this printer and the ones from Microsoft, do not support the HP  Psc 950xi printer/scanner on Windows 11.

Thank you very much for your response, am sure it will help others with similar issues on other printers.
