Hi, has anyone got a fix for this yet?  I just got my brand new 477dw and it has exactly this problem.

we also got a brand new 477dw and it has exactly this problem.

Have you tried to factory reset it? It's annoying to have to reconfigure it but that's what I did 1.5 years ago and the issue hasn't come back.

I haven't tried to update the firmware since, I don't want to risk it breaking again. It's currently on firmware version MAVEDNPP1N001.1708D.00

I don't remember what we did to solve the issue when it began back in March of 2018 and I don't remember which printer it happened to because we have three of these printers and while only one gave us the issue they all work fine now.

One is on firmware version MAVEDWPP1N001.1829A.00 with a build date of 2018-06-29.

The other two are on firmware version MAVEDWPP1N001.1743A.00 with a build date of 2017-10-23.

Thanks,

Jessica

I am having the same issue with my printer, and I've gone through every single menu setting available.  It's on the latest firmware.  I've extended the sleep mode to its maximum.  I've told it to be awake M-F, 8 to 5, but it will not wake from sleep mode.

Please poke your firmware engineers.

I solved my case by changing the printer port definition. I replaced the WSD port that is defined by setup wizard with the hostname of the builtin print server. The "TCP/IP standard print monitor" was the solution and in our case it seems to be reliabe. WSD was causing the problem.

EDIT2:  Ignore everything I previously wrote.  Although the problem appeared to be fixed by changing the power setting, it reappeared the next day.  So now I believe (as another had stated) that changing the power setting has no effect.

What I did discover, after spending a LOT of time trying different things, is that if I unplug the network cable prior to turning on the printer (my printer is connected via an ethernet cable) then plug it back in after it's on, the printer will sleep and wake normally. If I start it with the network cable plugged in, then it will lock up after entering sleep mode.  This is very consistent.  So this is at least a work around. I may try restoring it factory defaults, as someone else suggested. But hopefully HP will come up with a fix. I am really unhappy to be having a problem like this on a printer this expensive.  If this doesn't get fixed, I will NOT be a repeat HP customer.

I have a 577dw and was having this exact same problem.  It actually got worse after the last update, where the only way to bring it back from "sleep" was to unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in!  I posted a question on this yesterday before I discovered this thread.

After reading through the suggestions and trying a few, I did make one discovery.  The fix suggested by HP (Sdknight) actually worked for me.  If I changed the Sleep Mode (in Power Settings) to something different (I went with 5 minutes, but I don't think that matters) it would sleep and wake normally after that (no lockup).  HOWEVER, if I turn the printer off (which I normally do at night) then, the next time I turn it on, the behavior will come back.  So this is only a partial fix. I just have to remember to change the sleep mode when I turn it on in the morning.

I  hope this helps someone. But I really hope HP comes up with a permanent fix for this. It's long overdue!

EDIT: My printer is connected through a wired network connection (not wireless).

Hello all. We also have the same Problem after the Firmwareupdate Version: MAVEDWPP1N001.1839A.00

The maximum time before the 477dw goes to sleep is 2 hours. If you do nothing on you 477dw for more than 2 hours, the only thing to get it working again is to remove the powercord and plug it back in.

Tried x changes in setup Menu. -- still the same Problem.

I hope HP is working on a solution, or tell us how to fix it. (Just checked HP Page still the same FW to download.)

Hello Mmalmeida.

What we have seen ist that the Printer does not correctly powers Off. Normaly after work we swich off the printer via the power on/off switch. it seams that most of the time the printer does not properly swich off. Next morning we can not swich it back on. First we need to fully take it off the wall powerplug und plug the power back in.

HP is there no solution?

Best regards from Switzerland.
