Hi, my HP Photosmart 6520 has suddenly stopped being able to copy. Whenever I try to copy I get the message 'starting copy...' but nothing ever happens. Here are more details:
- the red cross doesn't change the 'starting copy...' status
- I've tried switching off, unplugging and waiting for more than 60 seconds
- I can send jobs to be printed without any problem
- I now use the printer with an Asus Chromebook and do not have the original set-up files on cd, or any way to connect with the printer manually
Is there an online fix I can try?

Hello,
Below is the link to the document that describes in detail about how to connect printer to Chromebook.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04122530
As far as the COPY issue is concerned, try the below steps..
- While the printer is ON, unplug the power cord from back of the printer.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Plug in the power cord directly to walloutlet ( bypass the surge protector / power strip ) and then to printer.
- If printer does not power on, press the ON button to do so.
- Once the printer is ON and idle, open the Scan lid and then press the COPY - Black and check if the scan carriage is lit and moves across. If its not lit or does get stuck, then its a scan module failure and printer need to be serviced.

Thanks Jabzi.
I've tried your solution for COPY. Unfortunately, it is not lit, so I guess it is a scan module failure. Can you tell me how and where to get it serviced? I don't think it is in warranty any more. I'm based in the UK.
