I received the promised private message from someone in "executive customer relations" this afternoon and emailed him back with the requested information.

I have the same issue everyone else is reporting.  I contacted technical support and I asked if I could get a refurbished 6520 and that I was willing to pay for shipping.   I was offered a replacement of a different model in which I would have to pay the discounted model price of around $100.  I was told the 6520 are no longer in production, and that since my printer was out of warranty, she could not offer an exchange.  It's too bad, I really liked this printer too.

We are into the third business day since I sent all the requested information to "executive customer relations" and I have had no response from HP.

My husband works from home and my kids are in middle school - we need a functional printer soon.   I'm researching non HP printers now.

Just got a call from HP, and they are shipping me a new printer.   I think the same HP ENVY 5660 as Rawyzf, but my phone broke up a bit during that part.  That appears to be a close approximation of the 6520.

She didn't have a good explanation of how just putting in a new black ink cartridge destroys the black printhead on the 6520, but I'm just happy that in the near future I will no longer have a $150, less-than-two-years-old very large paperweight that used to be a printer.

It takes a little persistence and patience, but HP is (once you get to the right people) standing behind their product.

-cdm-, It's great that you got ahold of the right people at HP Technical Support.  Apprently HP is not all on the same page when it comes to the policy regarding this issue, so unfortunately, in my case, HP is not standing behind thier product.  Too bad.  I've been without a Printer for a week now, so it's off to research new printers.  You can bet which brand I won't be buying again.

I am having the same issue as everyone else here and tried contacting customer service. They were of course no help. Went through the the normal trouble shooting and when it didn't help (because it is an issue with their printer they don't want to admit to) tried to sell me a referbished on at a "discounted" price. If I'm going to buy another printer it's going to be a new one. And I think it's not going to be a HP with the way they treat their customers.

The link no longer works.  I am experiencing the same problem as the many customers before.  Please advise.  Thanks

I have completed all the steps in the attached link and spoken to technical support and they said it is a defect but since it is out of warranty they won't do anything except sell me a referbished printer. Not a very good example of standing behind your product if you ask me.

I have the exact same issue... the 6520 refuses to print black. Color is fine. I've just spent over $120 for a lot of new ink and now it appears that I've wasted my money. Not good.

Please let me know what can be done to secure a new printer from HP.

Thanks.

Nick
