Thanks for your help. I did exactly what you stated and everything responded as you suggested. However, The error message comes up as: Carriage Jam. Clear carriage jam. Press ok.

I have checked very very carefully the carriage and there is no carriage jam. Now what?

I watched the recommended video and tried all suggestions. Unfortunately, The printer continues to do the same repeated action. Paper advances half way into the printer and stops. A carriage Jam message occurs and when you push OK the paper advances through the printer and a new sheet is taken and advanced to the same point and stops. It is a very stuborn machine. It does the same thing ever time. Does anyone know what may be wrong?

Thanks, electrono6

No, I can not make a copy. The printer behaves consistently as I have described with no connection to a computer. It simply moves paper half way and stops. Then only when I press OK does it pass the paper throughthe printer and takke a new piece of paper and does the same thing.

I can't get it to do anything else.

Thanks for your help, electron06

Hi,

as @The_Fossette is out of the office, I'm replying to you. I have read your post comprehensively. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Did you perform the steps from the link provided in the earlier posts?
  • Does the carriage move freely if you try to move it with your hand? If the carriage is stuck then it indicates a hardware issue and you may reachout to our HP phone support to explore the hardware service options for your printer.

If the carriage moves freely then I suggest you to perform a reset on the printer. This will restore the printer to its original factory condition. I have sent you a private message with the steps to reset the printer.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know. Good luck! 🙂
