I have tried a little of each solution on the two occasions I have gotten the ink pump failure error. Each time a little different combination of tricks worked. Thanks for the low yellow cartridge tip as I had the same low yellow cartridge situation. The HP Discussion Boards have been of such great help to me, I want to thank everyone who posts. I'm a novice and your advise, tips and discussions help me feel a lot more confident (not that that is a whole lot 😕 to begin with) and allows me to do a bit of experimenting that I ordinarily would not do. Thanks again.

So, if HP (Gemini02) had the solution all along, why wasn't it posted after the initial post in this very long thread??? I cannot test this latest recommendation as I traded my 7280 in for a 7510 long ago. This would have saved me headache, money, and most importantly, hours of frustration. If this Forum is supposed to be useful HP Tech Sujpport needs to monitor it and step in and help us. The myriad of incantations and magic offered by users here had to generate thousands of hours of wasted time among all the people experiencing this difficulty.

Why thank you so much, after much bumping and grinding and trying everything, I decided to go on line to see if anybody else experienced this pump motor stall message and read through the repsonses and came to yours, it sounded so easy, so I went and removed and the cartridges and put them back in and OMG, it worked, thanks, it was about to get tossed into the lake.

Bless you all for the solution to the "Pump Motor Stalled" problem and all the error messages that came with it. (ink/powering on&off, etc.).Taking out each cartridge and then putting them back in seems to have worked. Hopefully the printer is now cured. Was desperate when I couldn't find even a mention of a "pump motor" (no less "pump motor stalled") in the HP help/troubleshooting section. Turned to you, my friends, and it paid off. Perhaps HP should hire you guys! Thanks again!

THANKS! All I had to do was take out the print cartridges and wait a few minutes and then reinsert them all. Have been having problems for months and hope this keeps the printer going. Otherwise will replace...way too frustrating.
