I'm not able to change the tray used for printing. The HP Print Service plugin always selects the manual feed tray 1, while I would like to use tray 2 which can be loaded with a stack of paper. Tray 2 is also the default tray that is used for printing using desktop computers.
The Print Service Plugin even allows me to manually select a tray 2 for printing, but when I do so the print job is still allocated to use tray 1.
I've also tried various different print service plugins, but the result is always the same...

Hi, as I already indicated: I am presented an option to select tray 1 or tray 2, but no matter which one I chose the printer always allocates the print job to be printed from tray 1 (the manual feed tray).
The problem occurs on multiple phones using more than one M277dw devices, so i.m.o. there is a bug in either the plugin or the printer firmware.

I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.

Hi,
The following steps are not presented:
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
I do see an option for paid support, but I'm not willing to start a paid support ticket for what I assume is a bug in an app or firmware provided by HP. Other users of this printer appear to be encountering the same issue, see for instance the topics with number: 6171294, 5660680, 6370293

Thanks for your reply.
I have used the HP print service plugin, the HP smart app, the default android print plugin, the samsung print service plugin, the Mopria print service all with the same result: the printer always wants to print from tray 1.
