Hi @BC82,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error code 0x800f020b typically indicates a problem with Windows Update. It may be related to corrupted system files or a conflict with existing software on your computer. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this issue.
Run Windows Update Troubleshooter:
- Type "Troubleshoot" in the Windows search bar and select "Troubleshoot settings."
- Under "Get up and running," click on "Windows Update" and then click "Run the troubleshooter." Follow the on-screen instructions.
Check for Pending Updates:
- Sometimes, Windows Update can get stuck with pending updates. Ensure that there are no pending updates by going to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update" > "Check for updates."
Manually Reset Windows Update Components:
- Sometimes, resetting the Windows Update components can resolve issues. To do this, you'll need to run a series of commands in Command Prompt with administrator privileges.
- Press Win + X and select "Windows Terminal (Admin)" or "Command Prompt (Admin)".
- Type the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
- Close Command Prompt and try running Windows Update again.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Some third-party software can interfere with Windows Update. Temporarily disable or uninstall any antivirus, anti-malware, or firewall software and see if Windows Update works. Remember to re-enable or reinstall them afterward.
Check Your System for Corruption:
- Run the built-in Windows System File Checker tool to scan for and repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command:
sfc /scannow
- After the scan completes, restart your computer.
Check for Driver Issues:
- Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes interfere with Windows Update. Make sure your system has the latest drivers, especially for your printer.
Perform a Windows Update Reset (Last Resort):
- If all else fails, you can reset the Windows Update components using more advanced methods. This should be considered a last resort, as it involves more advanced troubleshooting. You may want to consult with a professional or Microsoft support for guidance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
