How can I confirm that HP printer is supported on my laptop with the Windows 10 operating system, and how to install the best available print driver and software

Greetings and Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Don't worry, I'm here to help!
The printer is compatible with Windows 10. To know more, refer to "System requirements" from this link.
Here's the driver download link.
You may also refer to the below documents -

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the information that my computer and printer are still viable.
I did try and download and reinstall, however decided to get the disc in the hopes it is easier.
Thanks for the links. Will keep you informed.

Try restarting the print spooler -
1) Turn off the printer using the power button and then unplug the printer power cord from the power outlet.
2) In Windows, search for and open Services.
3) In the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and then select Stop.
4) After the service stops, close the Services window.
5) In Windows, search for and open C:Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.
6) Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder.
7) Shut down your computer.
8) Connect the printer power cord to the power outlet, and then turn on the printer.
9) Turn on the computer, and then try to uninstall the driver again.

All went as you have suggested except whe when typing 5) in Windows, search for and open C:Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS. It would only show web result.
So instead I went to File Explorer, OS (C:) and saw the following folders:
Program Files (x86) has two folders:
Hewlwtt-Packard folder
created January 02, 2017
1.88 MB (1.974.136 bytes
1 files, 3 folders
Read only (Only applies to files in folder)
HP
created Januray 02, 2017
has 1 file, 3 folders
1.88 MB (1,974.136 bytes
2 files, 3 folders
Read only (Only applies to files in folder)
Would I delte them both?
