HP Officejet Pro L7590 printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We have an HP Officejet Pro L7590 printer that had a paper jam.  While clearing out the paper stuck around the printer carriage, the encoder strip became detached.  However, we can't seem to be able to thread the encoder strip back through the slot in the carriage.  It seems that there is something inside the slot of the carriage that is preventing the strip from passing through.  Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

If you are trying to thread encoder strip trough correct opening on the carriage it must go easily. Double check that you are aiming the one side of the encoder strip in right opening.

I’ve attached a photo of the printer carriage that shows the encoder strip slot. This seems to be the correct slot since it aligns with the carriage rod and the strip connection tabs at each end (the slot to the left does not align with the carriage rod and the strip would not pass through the carriage). However, the encoder strip will not completely pass through this slot since something inside is blocking the opening. Is there a photo or document that shows how the encoder strip should be installed?

The opening is good unless something got detached inside encoder stip should thread easily.

You are probably having a problem that stip gets bent ( to left or right because it's thin and can bend by itself) on its way through and hits something, try when threading it to move up-down and left right with your had to hit the spacing inside the carriage. Also, make sure that stip is straight, not bent or damaged.

The encoder strip is actually in good condition and is not broken or bent. We tried numerous times to install the encoder strip, but it never went entirely through the carriage slot. It always gets hung up on something inside the carriage. At this point, we have decided to punt on the L7590 printer and have purchased an HP Envy 5052 printer. Our new printer is now up and running and works great.
