Hi I have an HP Officejet 4500 G510a-f

The printer stopped printing in color, even though it shows the black and color cartridge has ink (though low - color). I changed the color to a full cartridge, but still not working. I also unistalled the printer driver and re-installed, but still not working. Can anyone please assist?

Hi @Monja79,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Officejet 4500 G510a-f printer has stopped printing in color despite having ink in the color cartridge, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve it:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Confirm that the color ink cartridge is installed correctly and has sufficient ink. Even if the ink level appears low, there should still be enough ink to print in color.

Clean Printheads:

  • Use the printer's built-in cleaning utility to clean the printheads. This can help unclog any dried ink or debris that may be blocking the color ink nozzles.
  • You can usually access the printhead cleaning option through the printer's control panel menu.

Print Quality Diagnostic Page:

  • Print a diagnostic page from the printer's control panel to check the print quality for color. This page will help identify any issues with the printheads or ink cartridges.
  • Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to print a diagnostic page.

Alignment:

  • Perform a printhead alignment to ensure that the printheads are properly aligned. Misalignment can cause color printing issues.
  • This option is usually available in the printer's settings menu.

Check Color Settings:

  • Make sure that color printing is enabled in the printer settings. Ensure that the print job you're sending is set to print in color rather than grayscale or black and white.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Visit the HP Support website and download/install any available driver updates for your printer model.

Reset Printer:

  • Try resetting the printer to its factory default settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
  • Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
