Printer working find and then stated two cartridges were depleted. Replaced them and then the printer went into error mode stating 'continuous ink system not supported'. We do not use HP cartridges and haven't for years (1/2 the cost) but read recently that HP are blocking their printers from accepting non-HP cartridges. Is this what has happened here?

Hi @Nigel1971,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
You may refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.
There are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it is not working.
Hope this helps.
Take care and have a nice day!
