HP LaserJet Pro M404dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We bought a new LaserJet Pro M404dn printer and put it on our network, sharing it via Windows Server Print Services.  We installed the correct M404dn 64-bit driver for Windows 10 on the print server AND installed the same driver on several Windows 10 clients.  When we add that printer to the Windows 10 client, Windows keeps grabbing a Color LasertJet Pro M453 driver, instead of the M404dn driver.  In addition, the driver is greyed out.  Why is Windows picking the wrong driver when the correct driver is available on the print server AND pre-installed on the WIndows 10 client.  And why can't i change it?

Any chance you previously had the other printer installed with the same IP? I would disconnect the M404 from the network and then ping the address to eliminate the possibility of a duplicate IP.

It also appears that the driver that is installing is a Microsoft supplied V4 driver. For this type of application I would suggest that you use the HP Universal Print Driver.
