HP Smart Tank 7605 All-in-One

Error code 8AF30001. Plugged in & booted while simultaneously depressing the power button.
The panel illuminates with a RED X and White Back Arrow.

When I press the Red X several times, a White Question Mark is added next to the Red X and the display now shows the reflash.jpgwords,  MFG  MENU  REFLASH  but these words do NOT respond to any touch.

If I choose either the White BACK Arrow, the Red X, or White partial reset.jpgQuestion Mark, sometimes the message will state

PARTIAL RESET.

PREV, OK, NEXT display buttons do not function.

After trying to initiate a reset from PARTIAL RESET, the final screen to appear is AUDIT MODE, which spontaneously changes to AUDIT and then to ERROR code 8AF30001.audit mode.jpg

There was some mention of this problem being a print head issue. The print head is shifted completely to the right side. It can not be moved to the center. I am unable to remove the print head or change it out.

Any ideas on how to get this HP 7605 printer to respond or reflash? Thanks for any assistance! xo

Need to finish the incomplete firmware update which is difficult to do if the printer is non-responsive.

The OrtizFam re-posted a summary of the step-by-step procedure that worked for a lot of people. Follow this link to reflash the firmware via the service menu of the HP Smart Scan 7605.

Thank you to Anitta from HP who patiently persevered and worked with me remotely to resolve this problem via telephone. This is what worked for me:

Start by unplugging the printer and leaving it for a few minutes.
Plug in the power cable and press and HOLD in the POWER button simultaneously while the printer boots up.

Continue holding the power button until you see a Red X and a White BACK Arrow on the panel.

Press the Red X several times until the display shows  MFG  MENU  REFLASH along with a White QUESTION Mark.

IF your display is functioning, choose REFLASH.
My display was not working so I had to keep pressing the White BACK Arrow to cycle through all the functions of the service menu [partial reset] [audit mode] [until FULL RESET was displayed.

Once FULL RESET is displayed, press the QUESTION MARK. This causes the printer to REBOOT.

** Important: As it starts to reboot, immediately PRESS & HOLD IN THE POWER BUTTON, KEEPING IT DEPRESSED WHILE THE PRINTER BOOTS BACK UP. (If you do not hold in the power button, you will need to restart these steps).
The firmware should update & the display will show the progress of initializing and completion of install.

DO NOT release the power button until the display panel shows the update is COMPLETE.

When finished, install HP Smart on your PC to install your printer. Good luck!
