Hi @Mohamed3538,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 515 printer is stuck displaying the letter "A" during a full reset, try the following steps to cancel or recover from it.

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the power cable from the printer and the wall socket.
  3. Wait for 5 minutes.
  4. Plug the power cable back in and turn on the printer.
  5. Check if the printer starts normally.

Reset the Printer Again

If the printer is still stuck, try resetting it again:

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the Cancel (X) and Wi-Fi buttons together.
  3. While holding these buttons, turn the printer back on.
  4. Release the buttons once the printer displays any new message or the HP logo.

Update Firmware (if accessible)

If the printer is detected on a computer via USB or Wi-Fi:

  1. Open HP Smart on your PC or mobile.
  2. Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  3. Check for firmware updates and install them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your response @Mohamed3538
Our apologies for the delay in responding.

Since the printer is still stuck with the letter "A" on display after power cycling and attempting a reset, try the following advanced steps:

Check for Obstructions:

>Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer.
>Open the printer and check for any foreign objects that might be causing the issue.

Advanced Reset Procedure:

>Power off the printer completely and unplug it from power for at least 10 minutes to ensure full discharge of internal capacitors.
>While the printer is unplugged, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
>Reconnect the power while simultaneously pressing and holding both the "Resume" and "Cancel" buttons (not the Wi-Fi button this time).
>Continue holding these buttons while turning on the printer, then release after you see the display change or begin to initialize.

 Service Menu Exit:
>If the printer is indeed in a service menu (indicated by the "A"):

>Press the "Cancel" button multiple times to cycle through options
>Look for an "Exit" or similar option in the display sequence
>When found, press the "Resume" or "OK" button to select it

Hard Reset:
>If the above doesn't work, try a hard reset procedure:

>Power off and unplug the printer
>Remove all ink tanks and printhead (if accessible)
>Leave the printer in this state for 15 minutes
>Reinstall components and power on while pressing both "Power" and "Cancel" buttons

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
