Hi, currently have a sudden problem with my Smart Tank 580 Printer.
On Mac, most of the time, it cannot find the printer and won't print. If I do a ping on the printer, I get no response ( but eventually after some time it pings ok then get no response again)
On the other hand, on Windows, there is no problem with printing and ping.
I noticed that in the Print Center (Mac), the printer goes offline when trying to connect and becomes Idle if I cancel the print.
Current Osx is Sonoma 14

Hi @Drk92,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer's connectivity!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these troubleshooting steps:
Restart Everything
- Restart the printer → Turn it off, unplug for 1 minute, then turn it back on.
- Restart your Mac.
- Restart your Wi-Fi router → Unplug it for 30 seconds and reconnect.
Check Printer Connection on Mac
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Remove the printer (Right-click → Remove Printer).
- Click Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax and try re-adding it.
Check Connection Type:
- If using Wi-Fi, ensure your Mac and printer are on the same network.
- If using USB, try a different port or cable.
Update Printer Drivers & HP Software
- Uninstall HP Smart app
- Open Finder > Applications.
- Delete HP Smart and any HP-related software.
- Empty the Trash.
- Download & Install Latest HP Drivers
- Go to HP's official website → Download the latest HP Smart app or printer drivers for macOS Sonoma 14.
- Restart your Mac after installation.
Check Printer IP Address
- On your printer, print a network configuration page (check printer manual).
- Find the IP Address of the printer.
- On your Mac:
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add Printer.
- Select IP and enter the printer’s IP address.
- Choose the correct HP driver.
- Save and try printing.
Use HP Smart App for Mac
- Open the HP Smart app and sign in.
- Click Add Printer and follow the setup instructions.
Try Printing with AirPrint
- When adding the printer on Mac, choose AirPrint instead of HP drivers.
- Test printing to see if it works better.
