Hi I have just installed the HP Smart Tank 7300 using my iMac Sonoma 14 and can successfully print black and white.  However when I select colour in the printer settings it still is printing in black and white.  I cannot turn on the print colour button on the printer.

If you're experiencing issues with your HP Smart Tank 7300 printer not printing in color despite selecting color in the printer settings, there are several potential solutions you can try.

 

  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure that your color ink cartridges have sufficient ink. If any of the color cartridges are empty or low, the printer may default to black-and-white printing.
  • Printer Software Settings: Ensure that the printer settings on your iMac are configured correctly. Open the printer settings/preferences on your computer and verify that the color option is selected.
  • Printer Driver Update: Check if there are any updates available for the printer driver. Visit the official HP website and download and install the latest driver for your printer model.
  • Printer Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Check the HP website for firmware updates specific to your printer model.
  • Reset Printer Preferences: Sometimes, preferences can get corrupted. Try resetting the printer preferences on your iMac. Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners," right-click on your printer, and select "Reset printing system." Then, re-add your printer and check the settings.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: Uninstall the printer software on your iMac and then reinstall it. This can help ensure that all settings are correctly configured during the installation process.
  • Check for Grayscale Settings: Some printers have separate settings for color and grayscale printing. Make sure that your printer settings do not have a grayscale or black-and-white printing option enabled.
