Welcome to HP Support Community,  @swedberg71.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 7302 All-in-One printer is not turning back on after attempting a scan, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Power Supply:
    1. Ensure that the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and a functioning power outlet.
    2. If you're using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet to rule out issues with these devices.

  2. Perform a Power Reset:

    1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
    2. Wait for about 60 seconds to allow the printer to reset.
    3. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then reconnect it to the printer.
    4. Attempt to power on the printer by pressing the power button.

  3. Check for Power Button Malfunction:

    1. Make sure that the power button is not stuck or damaged.
    2. Firmly press the power button once to see if the printer responds.

  4. Inspect the Power Cord and Adapter:

    1. Examine the power cord and adapter for any visible damage. If there's any damage, consider replacing them.
    2. Ensure that the power adapter is the correct one for your printer model.

  5. Try a Different Power Outlet:

    1. Test the printer with a different power outlet to rule out issues with the current outlet.

  6. Contact HP Support:

    1. If the printer still does not turn on after performing the steps above, it may require professional service. Consider reaching out to HP Support for further assistance.

Preventive Measures:

  • Avoid turning the printer off abruptly during operational tasks to prevent issues.
  • Regularly update your printer’s firmware and software for optimal performance.
