The yellow ink on the HP 750 Smart Tank does not seem to reach the printheads - been printing fine all along. Printheads cleaned and aligned, but still no luck.
Ink is 50% + full for all colours.
Second issue is the printheads doesn't move to the middle of the printer when the top is opened....?

Hi @DCtz,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the yellow ink in your HP Smart Tank 750 printer is not reaching the print heads and causing print quality issues, there could be several reasons for this problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue.

  • Check Ink Levels: Make sure there is enough yellow ink in the tank. If the ink level is low or empty, refill it.
  • Check for Clogs: Ink nozzles can get clogged over time. Use the printer's built-in cleaning function to clear any clogs. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu. Run the cleaning cycle for the yellow ink.
  • Perform a Printhead Alignment: An improper alignment of the printhead can cause printing issues. Most printers have an option for printhead alignment in the settings menu. Follow the on-screen instructions to align the printhead.
  • Clean the Printheads Manually: If the automated cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, you can try cleaning the printheads manually. HP printers often come with a utility for manual printhead cleaning. Follow the instructions provided by HP for manual cleaning.
  • Check for Air Bubbles: Air bubbles in the ink lines can obstruct the flow of ink to the printhead. Check the ink tanks to ensure there are no air bubbles. If you find any, gently tap the ink tank to release the air bubbles.
  • Use Genuine HP Ink: Make sure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges or ink bottles. Non-HP ink may not work correctly and can lead to printing problems.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware update installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can address printing issues.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Check the yellow ink cartridge and the ink tubes for any physical damage. If you find any damage, replace the damaged parts.
  • Test with a Different Yellow Ink Cartridge: If you have a spare yellow ink cartridge, try replacing the current one with the spare to see if the issue is resolved. This can help determine if the cartridge itself is faulty.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
