HP Smart Tank 7602 All-in-One

Hi everyone,

My HP Smart Tank 7602 printer is completely stuck on the startup screen. It only shows the HP logo with the loading/progress bar fully filled, but it never finishes booting.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Full reset

  • Partial reset

  • OOB reset

  • Semi reset

  • Firmware reflash via USB drive with file:
    sayan_premium_plus_dist_pp1_003.2450A_nonassert_appsigned_lbi_rootfs_secure_signed.ful2

None of these worked.

Some context:

  • The printer is just about 2 years old, but already out of warranty.

  • HP support opened a case but closed it without resolving anything.

  • Last firmware update was July 4, 2025.

  • Since winter 2025, I could only turn it on by unplugging and re-plugging the power cord because the power button didn’t respond.

  • If I didn’t print quickly enough, the printer would go back into sleep mode and refuse to wake up unless I repeated the unplug/plug process.

Now it’s completely unusable, stuck on the logo/loading screen.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or found a permanent solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @puiooook,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

From what you’ve shared, your HP Smart Tank 7602 is stuck on the startup screen with the HP logo and loading bar, and despite trying multiple reset types and even reflashing firmware, it won’t fully boot.

Unfortunately, when a Smart Tank device gets stuck in this state, it usually points to firmware corruption or a failing mainboard (especially since you mentioned earlier symptoms like the power button not responding and having to unplug/replug just to start).

Here are the steps I’d suggest:

Power cycle one more time with a clean boot

Unplug the printer from power and remove all cables, including USB/Ethernet.

Leave it disconnected for at least 5 minutes.

Plug it back directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).

Try a firmware recovery with HP’s tools

Instead of loading the .ful2 file manually, try the official HP Firmware Update Utility on your PC while the printer is connected via USB. Sometimes this forces a recovery even when the screen is stuck.

Check for panel/button response

If the screen is frozen but the control panel buttons still respond (like Home, Back, or Cancel), try holding them for 10–15 seconds to trigger a hidden reset.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.

I already tried the clean boot (unplugging everything for several minutes and plugging directly into the wall), but it did not work.

The firmware update method also doesn’t work, because the computer does not detect the printer at all — neither through USB nor through the HP Smart app — since the device never completes startup. It remains stuck on the HP logo with the loading bar.

Also, when the printer is frozen on the logo screen, the control panel buttons (Back, “?”, or Cancel/X) do not appear and are completely unresponsive.

So unfortunately, none of these recovery methods are possible in my case.
