For several weeks now, my installed HP Smart app associated with my HP Officejet Pro 8715 has shown to be offline.  I go through its diagnostics and it shows nothing wrong and allows a successful test print.  I am still able to use the printer from all my MS Office applications, but not able to get a connection with HP Smart for scanning, printer tools, settings, status, etc.  I've also installed the latest version of HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.0.6 which ran through everything and also doing a successful test print and not finding anything to fix, but still showing printer offline.

Hi,

From the search bar search for HP Smart, right-click HP Smart, select App Settings and reset the app.

 

Now open HP Smart, click the plus sign and check for any difference.

 

If the same persists, from the same menu select Uninstall and then reinstall the HP Smart app from the Store and check for any difference:

Thanks for your help ShlomiL.  I've tried all you suggested without any success. There was another strange occurrence though, when I reset the app and then after restarting clicked on add a printer and the printer selection I chose (my default printer) showed online!  I selected this and once it popped up it showed "Printer offline".  So confusing.  Delecting the app and then reinstalling it also didn't help.

Any other suggestions?

So this is maybe any connectivity related problem.

Swipe down the top bar and click the wireless icon.

Click the gear icon.

Click on Print Reports.

Select Wireless Test Report and evaluate the printed report.

 

May the report include any warning or alert information?

Unfortunately, I don't understand where to swipe down the top bar.  There is not a bar with the HP Smart app.  When trying to open the printer setup or information within HP Smart app, it doesn't allow anything since showing offline.  I have the 8715 printer connected to my house LAN through ethernet cables.

Very interesting!  A lot of reports available.  Didn't know that was there.  Unfortunately, none of the multiple reports I ran showed any issues, warnings or alerts.
