I have uninstalled the app (as outlined elsewhere on this forum) and downloaded the latest PKG and reinstalled.Twice.
The app still does not respond. It's weird because it was working fine yesterday. I have even tried to close down all other apps. Nup.
I tried to use the 192.168.1.9 "web" version, but I wasn't able to figure out how to do anything on it. Nasty.
Is there another version of the app to try?

@skb55, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Check for any software updates on MAC
Did you just move the HP Smart app to trash or did you also clear the contents from the trash?
Removing it completely from the library and trash will help us clear the cache from the system.
Removing and re-installing the HP Smart App may resolve this issue. Here is how to do it:
- Open Finder and click Applications
- Move HP Smart App to Trash and clear the Trash.
- Open Finder then click Go and Click Home.
- Click View then Click Show View Options. Check the box Show Library Folder.
- The change is instantaneous and the Library folder will immediately be visible.
- Open Library and Open Application Support, move HP Smart folder to Trash and clear the Trash
- Download and install the HP Smart App from here.
Let me know how this goes.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
Yes, I've tried the uninstall and empty trash option twice (including once using CleanMyMac app). It's very strange because it was working perfectly up until...it wasn't.
I was having trouble with my internet connection - could that be stopping the software from starting?
thanks again.

If you have connected the printer and the MAC via Wifi-Direct, the Internet connection will not affect the functionality of the app.
If you are using wifi, the printer and the MAC device should be connected to each other and the Internet is required. Try using the app with good Internet connection and check if the issue persists.
Keep me posted.
