HP Tango

Hello...I was in the process of switching WiFi's and then my Tango printer started flashing all of its lights.  Unplugging the printer did not work.  Holding the power and WiFi buttons at the same time did not work.

Has there been a printer failure and does it need to be replaced?  Any info you can provide would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi @SMcFadden34,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are getting flashing lights on your printer. I'd like to help!

Try the steps from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-tango-series/20486540/document/c06069835

Connect the Printer directly to a wall outlet. You may also a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168

Let me know if this helps.

I followed the steps but when I plugged the printer in to the wall all of the lights continue to flash which means that according to HP "the printer has failed".  Unfortunately I have no way to update the firmware as the printer is not responding.  Is there any way to factory reset the printer?  Thanks!

Hi @SMcFadden34,

Thanks for replying.

Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

Did you make any changes to your printer?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove the USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, and press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

This happened after I started the process to move the printer from one WiFi to another.  I didn't get very far along in the process.

I just tried your suggestion and after starting up all of the lights are flashing again.

Hi SMcFadden34,

Thanks for replying. If the lights are still flashing, the printer needs to be checked.
