I have an HP Tango X. For about a year it worked great, I printed maybe 150 pages in total since I purchased it. A few months ago out of nowhere it started flashing all the lights (all three top lights, the light in front of the paper insert and the light at the paper exit area). I tried a few solutions I found online and found one that worked one time but doesn’t work anymore. That process was: Unplug the cord from the back, then holding the power button for 30 seconds, plug the cord back in. This worked for me to print and it was fine, but 5-10 minutes later all the lights were flashing again. This process no longer works.

Hi @Stephanieraymos,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Tango X printer is flashing all the lights and you've already tried some solutions without consistent success, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to address the issue.

  • Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer's paper tray, input tray, and the rear access door to ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions. Sometimes a paper jam can trigger multiple lights to flash.
  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 30 seconds. Then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal components and resolve issues.
  • Check for Ink Cartridge Issues: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly inserted and securely in place. If an ink cartridge is not correctly seated, it could trigger error lights.
  • Update or Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause issues. Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. You can download them from the official HP website.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: This involves a more extensive reset of the printer. To do this, turn off the printer, unplug it, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, and then release it. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes updating the printer's firmware can resolve unexpected issues.
  • Clear Print Queue: If there are any stuck print jobs in the print queue, they could be causing the lights to flash. Clear the print queue on your computer and try printing again.
  • Check for Error Messages: The flashing lights might be accompanied by error messages on the printer's display or on your computer. Take note of any error codes or messages, and search for them on the HP support website or online for specific troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
