Installed new ink both color & black, was printing fine until I updated the drivers/software? Did all the maintenance and still printing with like a space in between each letter on some lines making the print quality ineligible.

@MinnesotaDJ
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- Have you tried making a standalone copy and check if that works fine?
- What is the operating system installed and application you use to print?
Power resetting the printer updating the printer firmware may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:
Step 1: Reset the printer
1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Step 2: Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your computer.
Note: Make sure to select the right Operating system and its version before downloading the firmware.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Step 3: Perform step 7, 8 and 12 from this document.
Try to print.
Step 4: If the issue persists, use an alternate set of ink cartridges and check.
If you have a defective cartridge or printhead, it might be under warranty. To check the warranty on your ink or toner supplies, go to Printer and Page Yield Overview, and then review the limited warranty information for your supplies.
Let me know how this goes.

I don't understand what a "stand alone" copy is? I have already tried the unplugging, it just may be that I tried to install from this expensive out of date tablet and of course 8t wouldn't work. Going to try from my moto Z2 Force next as my computer situation is just another headache. OS would be android and I use Chrome for everything.
Hopefully get this printer working again as I seriously need to get printing done!
Thank you, I'll let you know if any of this works!

Okay so I did install the firmware from my phone, only question I have is aligning the cartridges as I have scoured over the tools, setting, firmware everything in the hp assistant and can't find it. I do have the printer event log though. And at this point I really can't afford to buy new cartidges again, so that is out of the question!
Here is the event log:
68 74740 Network Information
66 74740 Network Information
65 74899 Printer Event
64 74900 Printer Event
63 74899 Printer Event
62 74900 Printer Event
61 74899 Printer Event
59 74900 Printer Event
58 74899 Printer Event
This log does not let me click on or describe what these events were. I'm at my wits end at this point and think there just may be a setting that got messed up. Next I'm going to try resetting back to default. It's the only hope I have left, wish me luck!

After all that, reset to default, still has firmware version: LYP1FN1828AR though!
Still printing weird, the bold black lettering comes out perfect but the smaller print beneath is ineligible still. I guess I'll just let it rest for now. Next time I'll include a picture!

- A standalone copy is to place a document on the scanner glass and making a Black or color copy of it.
- Let us try using HP Smart app to print and check how it works.
- Click here to know more about HP Smart and to download it.
