I have an HP deskjet 3755 printer. I just bought a new HP 65XL black ink cartridge. When I install it, I get a flashing ink well on the display and flashing orange light. I have tried restarting the printer multiple times and have tried cleaning the contacts of the cartridge and the printer per the troubleshooting guide.
In the HP smart app, it says "Cartridge Problem. The indicated cartridges are not communicating correctly with the printer. If this problem persists, replace the cartridges."
Looking at the web interface, it just says "Cartridge Failure".

I understand you're encountering a cartridge communication issue with your HP DeskJet 3755 printer despite using a new HP 65XL black ink cartridge. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this problem:
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the back.
- Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Remove the new cartridge from the printer.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
- Also, clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge connects.
Reinstall the Cartridge:
- Make sure the cartridge is securely installed into the correct slot.
- Close the cartridge access door securely.
Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve cartridge communication issues. You can check for updates through the printer's embedded web server (EWS) or using the HP Smart app.
Replace the Cartridge:
- If the issue persists after trying the above steps, try using another new HP 65XL black ink cartridge. Occasionally, cartridges can be defective out of the box.
