When I try to enable "HP eprint" on my HP envy 4520 printer it asks me to join webservices, which I accept.

It then checks for updates and I get an error message : "Server Problem. The printer could not connect to web services. The server might be busy or unavailable. Try Again Later". I have been receiving this message every time I try for several days.

The printer is hooked up to wifi and I have printed items successfully from my phone using the Wi-Fi Direct network connection. This is not the issue.

Based on my searchs on the help forums, I will also add:

I signed up for an HP Connect account but can't add the printer without the "claim code", I can't get a claim code without web services on the printer.

I have tried entering the printers IP address into a pc (as printed on the HP network configuration page it spit out when the printer first connected to wifi) but all I get is an error message "this site cannot be reached" so I can't use the printers IP to change any settings.

Please help. The eprint feature of this printer is the whole reason we got it.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I received a private message with a support number. When I called it the

'support tech" wanted to charge me money to fix my brand new printer. Is this a scam?

He had me go to www,abbc1.com . And when I said I wasn't comfortable downloading and definitly wasn't willing to pay he ended my call.

Hi @marybejeweled,

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.

I understand you are having trouble while accessing the web-services.

Let's first check if there is any firmware update available for your printer. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to  try and assign a manual DNS address. This normally helps to fix similar issues.

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
  • Now try accessing the web services and check.

For more assistance, please follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Printers - Cannot Connect to Web Services

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
