HP Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I have problems with my HP Envy 4520 network printer.

When I want to print something that has color, it doesn't, but it only prints in black-and-white. However, the color cartridge does go empty.

Steps tried:

  1. new color cartridge inserted (It was almost emtpy)
  2. page aligned
  3. opened the HP Envy 4520 series  app on my Windows10, 64bit laptop
  4. Control panel --> Devices and Printers --> right click on the HP ENVY 4520 series (Network) --> Printing preferences.
I searched for any option that says Color or Grayscale, but it's nowhere to be found (I also checked Advanced in both Layout and Paper/Quality, and it's both times the same screen) Screenshots of this can be found at the bottom
  5. started a Print Quality Diagnostic which does have some problems (Screenshots of this can be found at the bottom. The yellow looks yellow-ish on the images, but on paper it is  a tint of green)
  • Yellow and Light Yellow are green with a brown-ish bottom
  • Cyan and Light Cyan have a very small white line near the top (I think it's 1px high, but goes across the whole block)
  • Black same story (but it's a bit lower than in the cyan ones)
  • In the green block with the brown arrow next to it, there's some gray in it + it has 2 white lines (one very near the top and one about halfway). The gray bits are at the bottom of the block and just above the white middle line

Hello,

Appreciate the detailed problem description.

There two possibiities, either its the cartridge that is faulty or the printer.

Below is the link that should let us help decide on it.

If  the issue still persits, its time for the printer to be either serviced or to be replaced.

Go to Contact HP Customer Support to schedule a product repair or replacement. If you are in Asia Pacific, you will be directed to a local service center in your area.
To confirm your warranty status, go to HP Product Warranty Check. Repair fees might apply for out-of-warranty products.
