HP Envy 5546

I bought this printer in February this year and it had 9 months free instant ink. This is now coming to an end so i changed my plan last week to 50 pages (from300), and within 10 minutes the printer turned itself off and now wont initialise, so i am unable to print. It keeps restarting and wont stay on. It could be coinsidence after downgrading my plan? Apparently my warranty has expired too, even though i have only had it 9 months.  After a few days of trying to get it back working i did a factory reset on the printer but that hasn't done anything either. Any help would be  much appreciated.

Hey there! @Steersringer, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues printing after the instant ink plan change.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Try disabling and enabling the web service on your printer and try printing again.

Yes. There is no obligation or commitment beyond your first month. You may cancel your service or change plans at any time without penalty. To change your plan or cancel your service, sign in at hpinstantink.com. Expand the My Plan section and click Edit, next to HP Instant Ink Plan. You can choose to make a plan upgrade effectively immediately and retroactively apply to the current billing cycle, or have the upgrade take effect the first day of the next billing cycle. Plan downgrade changes and cancellation are effective the first day of the next billing cycle. For more details, see the HP Instant Ink Terms of Service.

After getting an error message, 0xb888df30 (not sure what this means), turning off and on again I have managed to print a couple of documents. But the printer is randomly restarting, it did it 3 times in just over an hour. HP warranty checker says I am out of warranty, even though I have only had it 9 months

@Steersringer, Thanks for your prompt response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned you are getting an error 0xb888df30 on your printer and the printer is restarting randomly.

Have you tried checking with regular ink cartridges on your printer?

Try updating the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Update the printer firmware using this link. Click Here

In some cases, removing the ink cartridges and resetting the printer can clear the error message.

  1. Turn on the printer.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. Disconnect the USB cable from the rear of the printer. If your printer has a network or wireless connection, leave it connected.

  4. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer.

  5. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.

  6. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  7. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

    NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.

  8. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  9. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  10. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

  11. Reinsert the ink cartridges, and then close the ink cartridge access door.

  12. If you receive a prompt to print a calibration page, do so.

  13. If you disconnected the USB cable, reconnect it to the rear of the printer.

  14. Try to print.

Let me know if this helps!

Take Care! 🙂
