HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer

I have an HP Envy 6455e printer that is constantly offline even with 100% wifi signal. I had to unplug it then turn it back on each time I needed to print something to get it back online and functioning  It is not even one year old and this week it acquired an E9 error code and is totally useless. I just bought another printer. An HP 6458e Printer since it supposedly has updated software to help keep it online. It has printed less than ten pages in two days since it was installed and now it also suddenly has an E9 error and is useless.  I have windows 11 operating system, upgraded from windows 10 on my HP Pavilion x360 laptop.  Please come up with how to fix this. I am really beginning to think that all HP printers are nothing more than complete garbage, extremely non dependable and plagued with problems.

I understand you are getting an error message E9 on your HP ENVY 6458e All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

An E9 error blinks on the printer control panel after setting up the printer in the HP Smart app or after resetting the printer to troubleshoot another issue. A Printer Setup Incomplete or Printer Offline message might also display in the app.

 

These steps are for HP ENVY 6010e, 6020e, 6022e, 6030e, 6032e, 6034e, 6052e, 6055e, 6075e, 6420e, 6430e, 6432e, 6452e, 6455e, 6458e, and 6475e printers.

 

Let's perform a power drain: 

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware
