HP Instant Ink
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I find it a scam that I cannot use instant ink cartriges that I have paid for because I cancel my subscription. You send too much. I have 4 cartridges and you want to send more. I like HP products, but I am thinking of reporting you to the BBB

With the Instant Ink program you are not paying for the ink cartridges, they remain the property of HP.  You are paying for a subscription to print a designated number of pages per month.

If you cancel the subscription the Instant Ink cartridges will no longer function in the printer.

What do I do, I have two boxes of ink, and they are gonna send another?

Thank you for volunteering. That's great. Why does a billion dollar company need volunteers?

If you are no longer enrolled in the Instant Ink program they should not send you any more ink, although there may be a last shipment that was in the works before your subscription was cancelled.

If you want to use the printer without an Instant Ink subscription you will need to buy retail cartridges.  What printer model do you have?

Years ago when the forums were first set up there were no HP Support folks in the forum, it started as a place for users to communicate with each other.  The forum has grown considerably over the years with over 2.8 million users.  In many areas there are now paid HP Support folks that participate as well.

I feel  EXACTLLY the same way!

I have seen numerous messages regarding the same issue. I am experiencing the issue many others are-HP's ownership of the cartridges. I have been on the program for a year, I have received 4 cartridges and paid $9.99/mo. for twelve months. Finally I had a surplus of ink and I decided not to pay the monthly fee and un-subscribe. Well guess what? Yep, now I suspended and can not print until I pay my "exit fee" or last month's subscription fee-even though I've received nothing and have surplus ink.

I own my printer, my paper and I've paid for the ink by contract but now they will not allow me/others like me to use residual ink. I used the chat today and spoke with Daniel but he disconnected me. I believe HP is doing a dis-service and in a public relations arena will do themselves more harm than good. The program needs to be changed, I agree no printing on unpaid for cartridges but allow us to use up those for which we have paid.

The thing you do not understand - you have not paid for the ink.  The monthly charge covers a set number of pages (300 pages per month for your case).  Ink will be sent as needed automatically, but the Instant Ink cartridges can only be used for a printer that is enrolled in Instant Ink.  The ink remains the property of HP, what you are paying for is not ink but printed pages.   If you cancel the subscription you will need to replace the cartridges with retail cartridges.
