Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Officejet Pro 8715 All-In-One printer says that the new black ink cartridge installed is an "older generation cartridge".  However this is a new 952xl black ink cartridge I bought in a double pack at Costco.  The first one worked great and I used it up.

I tried putting it in and taking it out several times.  I also tried the three steps of unplugging (waiting 60 seconds) replugging, resetting, and updating firmware.  I continue to get the same message.  How can I get my printer to read this new cartridge?

Check the date on a label on a replacement cartridge, if expired the printer will not accept it.

The package says that the warranty expired in September of 2020.  It doesn't say anything about the ink expiring.  If it had I would not have purchased a double pack.  If you are going to tell me that this means that the ink expired, that isn't fair.  That should have been stated on the package.  I'm feeling very ripped off by this and I would like HP to send me a free 952XL black ink cartridge or refund me my money to make up for the fact that they weren't honest and misled me about the product they sold me.

The printer firmware update prevents your printer to use a new expired ink cartridge.

Then how do I remove the update so that I can use my new cartridge?
