So if my PC says 10.0.0.4 but the printer is different numbers like 192.168.x.x something is going on with the router.  Let me know if this gets any kind of frustrating and I will gladly point you in a different direction.  The trick to troubleshooting is if you can't get to step 1 easily just move on to step 2.  Not like we can't go back to step 1 but best to avoid getting overwhelmed before it even happens.  Just done this a lot so I know after so many minutes of trying it can get...monotonous.

Hello,

Kidnly check the IP4 for your other computer.

If the First 3 octates are same and the default gateways matches, then your PC is on correct network.

I'm going to play Miss Cleo here and predict the IP addresses are the samesimilar so I can move forward with the next step which is that you cannot access the printer's web page.

So when that happens next is you go to the printer and use the Printer Wireless Setup Wizard again and make sure it connects just like you did when you first set it up.  Then try to access the IP address via web browser after that. It can still show connected on the network config page yet somehow it isn't until you do that step again.

I assure you setting a static IP is going to help but will it solve the problem permanently?  You won't even know until it loses connection again.

Hello,

Its a "YES" for your last question. It does resolve the connectivity problem if the printer is set with an Static IP.

You got this though - I promise - this is only to confirm you are on the same network.  99% of the time you are but there's the small chance the computer is on the guest network and the printer is not.

In this step we are trying to understand why you cannot access the printer webpage so if you cannot access command prompt no biggy - just use the printer's tools' menu to reconnect to the network and print that page again.

Actually I am not sure i can not access my printers web page. Its just not accessed through the tools menu on my printer as previously suggested. my 8620 anyways! I have several other options such as hp print and scan doctor that has info under the network/advanced tab or the web support page for my printer. also the wireless test results or maybe even the network configuration page.
