HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

HP Photo Envy 7858 is stuck on the first dot on the initialization screen. I have tried the hard resent by unplugging the printer cord from both the printer and wall outlet (not surge protector); pressed and held the power button for at least one minute, and left the printer unplugged for over an hour. Is there another way to reset the printer?

Hi @DannyAloha,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 7858 printer is stuck on the first dot during reboot, there are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

  • Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on again. This simple step can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
  • Check the printer's connectivity: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If you are using a USB cable, make sure it is securely connected at both ends. If you are using a wireless connection, check that the printer is connected to the correct network.
  • Clear any paper jams: Open the printer's access doors and check for any paper jams or obstructions. Clear out any paper that might be stuck in the printer. Sometimes, a paper jam can cause the printer to get stuck during the reboot process.
  • Reset the printer to factory settings: This step should be taken with caution, as it will remove any customized settings and configurations you have made on the printer. Locate the Reset option in the printer's settings menu or refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. After the reset, set up the printer again and check if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Powering down does not fix.  Is there a way to do a factory reset or load via the USB port when booting up?
