Print and scan doctor is normally very helpful.

However now it's not working at all. I've tried deleting the PSDR folder on my C drive and downloading afresh, but the same happens each time.

I click on the application to execute it, when I click Yes to make changes on my device, for a brief moment a grey dialog box pops up and then it vanishes from the screen, and nothing else happens. I took a quick photo of the dialog box, it seems to be something to do with consent, but it's only on screen for about 1-2 seconds before it vanishes.

Is anyone else having this problem, and what can I do about it? Is it something to do with my computer/Windows 11?

Thanks

Hi @Flossie22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with the HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR) tool, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try.

Run as Administrator:

  • Right-click on the HP Print and Scan Doctor shortcut or executable file.
  • Select "Run as administrator."
  • Confirm any prompts that appear.

Compatibility Mode:

  • Right-click on the HP Print and Scan Doctor executable.
  • Choose "Properties."
  • Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
  • Check the box for "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select an older Windows version (e.g., Windows 10).
  • Click "Apply" and then "OK."
  • Try running the tool again.

Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter:

  • Right-click on the HP Print and Scan Doctor executable.
  • Select "Troubleshoot compatibility."
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to let Windows try to fix the compatibility issue.

Reinstall HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Uninstall the current HP Print and Scan Doctor software from your computer.
  • Download the latest version from the official HP website.
  • Install the new version and check if the issue persists.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can sometimes cause issues with certain applications.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Updates may include fixes for compatibility issues.

Firewall/Antivirus:

  • Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall software and see if the issue persists. Sometimes, security software can interfere with the proper functioning of applications.

Event Viewer:

  • Check the Windows Event Viewer for any error messages related to the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This may provide additional information about what is causing the problem.

Remember to re-enable any security software you may have temporarily disabled for testing purposes.

If the problem persists, it's possible that there could be an issue with the compatibility of the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool with Windows 11, and you may need to wait for an updated version or patch from HP.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
