HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer

Error message "Re-insert or lower the photo tray".  Tried every suggestion, watched every video and I still get the error.  Short of buying a new printer, what should I try next?

@ForeverWife, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

It seems like the photo tray is not seated correctly or a sensor has gone bad. Check for any jams inside the printer, refer to -  A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays

For more info on loading media, refer to page 12 of the User Guide

If you are not able to print due to this error, and if the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Thanks for your suggestions.  After removing every part, I am convinced it’s a sensor.  I can print after selecting “OK” at the error screen.  What is the life expectancy of a printer used occasionally (scanner is used more)?  Or replace the sensor?

@ForeverWife

The life of a printer depends on many scenarios like usage, maintenance, environment. The printer comes with 1 year of factory warranty which can be extended up to 3 years on users requirement.

I'm afraid the sensor will not be available to be replaced.

If you are using the printer more for scanning, you can still continue to do so. And, if you are able to print after clicking on OK, and its not bothering you, you can still use it.

This is as per user experience.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
