HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer

I have a book I'm trying to print for my best friend's birthday, I only have a few more days to get it all done so when I ran out of ink I didn't have time to wait for my insta ink to send more. I went to the store and bought an HP cartridge that was the correct size (65) and the actual HP brand and everything. When I got back home I was able to print 48 more pages. Which I thought was odd because on the insta ink cartridge, it was half empty and I was able to print way more than that.

I figured it was because a few of the pages had some fully grey scaled pictures on them that used a lot of black so I got rid of those pictures and went back to the store and bought more ink. then it only managed to print 24 pages before it ran out of ink!!

When I unplugged my printer and plugged it back in again it started printing again like the cartridge was full again for one page and then stopped printing again.

I don't know what settings I need to change but I'm getting desperate here. I need to get this printed as soon as possible and I refuse to spend 18 bucks a pop on ink that's just going to fake run out in order to force me to wait for the shipment to get here.

Hi @Dinkyinky ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this situation is, especially with a deadline approaching. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue with your HP DeskJet 3755 and the ink cartridges:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure that the new cartridges are installed correctly. Remove the cartridges and reinsert them, making sure they click into place securely.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer’s memory regarding ink levels.

3. Clean the Contacts

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the copper contacts on the ink cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer. Allow them to dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.

4. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

5. Print Quality Diagnostic Report

  • Run a print quality diagnostic report from the printer settings. This will help identify any issues with the cartridges.

6. Change Print Settings

  • Check your print settings to ensure you’re using the correct print quality. For example, set it to "Draft" mode for less ink usage when printing documents without images.

7. Use a Different Application

  • If you're using specific software to print, try printing from a different application (e.g., Word, Adobe Reader) to see if the issue persists.

8. Inspect Ink Levels

  • If your printer supports it, check the ink levels directly from the printer’s display or the HP Smart app to confirm the cartridges' status.

9. Consider Compatibility

  • Make sure the cartridges you purchased are compatible with your printer model. Sometimes, even if the size is correct, certain cartridges may not function well due to firmware restrictions.

10. Try Another Cartridge

  • If you have access to another new cartridge (HP 65), try using that one to see if it resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
